Provence Boulangerie, Orange
A quaint little spot featuring delicious sourdough assortments and decadent French pastries. Provence Boulangerie sits on Summer Street in Orange (via the Woolworths carpark) – a French‑leaning bakery with a steady local following and a window full of pastries that stop you in your tracks. It’s small, warm, and always carrying that fresh‑baked smell that makes you pause and reconsider whatever you thought you were doing next.
They’re known for classic French favourites – croissants, pain aux raisins, cannelés, pain suisse, pain au chocolat – the kind of bakes that feel like a little taste of France in the middle of the Central West.
Why we love it
The croissants are flaky, the sourdough has real character, and the pastries feel like they’ve been made by someone who genuinely loves the craft. It’s the kind of place you duck into for “just one thing” and walk out with a paper bag that’s heavier than planned. Keep an eye out for Croissant Week (mid‑July) – a sensational lineup of generously filled croissants that locals rave about.
They’ve also just been named Best Pastry Shop in Cabonne Shire 2026, which feels exactly right for a bakery that consistently delivers the goods.
And if you’re in Bathurst, Café VIVA has started offering Provence’s artisan bakes – a very tasty development!
From the hands that make it
We asked Loïc what inspired him to bring his baking to Orange, which pastries taste like home, what he loves making most, what customers go crazy for, and how people have responded now that his bakes are landing in Bathurst.
“I wasn’t finding what I had back home – that’s the reason why I started my bakery. The things that taste like Provence to me are the baguette or the pain aux raisins, they’re the ones that feel like home. The item I like making the most is the Cannelé or the savoury ham and double brie sourdough baguette – simple but buttery and generous in ham and cheese, I enjoy it. The Cannelé is usually the most popular, but at the moment it’s the cruffins. We make three different flavours and it’s just crazy. Café VIVA – or I should say April, the manager – was a customer of our pop‑up and she knew our products. They’ve been very busy with our pastries. They are very nice people and they’ve only been working with us for three weeks, but it’s increasing every week.”
