Beyond the menu
We recently shared Robyn's story and the journey behind Lavish Nutrition. This time, we were interested in what was happening inside the cups. So we asked.
How do new flavours make the menu?
A few things. What is liked or popular at the time, and what I think people would like.
And… what's the story behind Purple Copper Butterfly tea?
My husband does a lot of work with the Purple Copper Butterfly through his work and asked me to create a tea to bring exposure to it for National Threatened Species Day on 7 September.
It has definitely brought a lot of exposure to it amongst our customers. They love hearing about them.
Someone walks into Lavish Nutrition for the first time. What are you recommending?
I ask, "Would you like to be filled up with a smoothie or energised and refreshed with a tea?"
This question helps people decide if they want one or both.
What surprises people most?
I find some people are sceptical about the protein smoothies because they don't like the gritty taste of protein powder.
They are shocked at how delicious they are and are also surprised that they can taste so amazing when they aren't even made on milk. They're smooth and don't taste gritty.
What does being "the friend your customers need" look like day to day?
When I opened Lavish, it was on the tail end of Covid. I found that people just wanted connection and community.
We treat each of our customers as a person and as part of our Lavish family, rather than a transaction. We are happy to listen to their joys and their concerns.
We get the opportunity to journey with our customers through the best and worst times in their lives and simply be a hug or an ear when they need it.
Half the walls of the shop are covered in photos of our amazing customers.
That just adds to the community feel.
