Coffee that fuelled our July: 6 Bathurst spots we love
There’s nothing quite like a crisp Central West morning to make you appreciate a perfectly poured cup of coffee. As the early winter fog settles over our regional streets, finding a warm, welcoming corner becomes less of a daily routine and more of a comforting ritual.
We’re adding more places as we go. While we’re working behind the scenes on new stories, these five steady favourites have carried us through this month.
Take a peek at our go‑to orders, meet the faces behind your morning brew, and save this guide for your next weekend caffeine run.
Ly Café
The vibe
An absolute neighbourhood gem that pairs great coffee with genuine regional hospitality. It’s the kind of space where you are always greeted like an old friend.
Our go‑to order
A classic coffee and something fresh from their cabinet.
The heart behind the space
Owner, Nicky, shared that the museum offered exactly what she needed: a manageable space where people could sit, chat and reconnect, bringing a sense of community back into everyday life.

Moubar Vintage
The vibe
A moody, character‑filled courtyard hole‑in‑the‑wall quietly tucked inside the vine‑covered Brooke Moore Centre.
Our go‑to order
A rich, velvety almond latte enjoyed out in the courtyard sun.
The story behind the name
If you’ve ever wondered where the name comes from, owner, Nic, cleared it up for us. “I’d always wanted to run my own bar, so I had a caravan custom‑built as a mobile bar to make it happen. Mobile bar became Moubar – I added the ‘u’ and the moustache logo as a twist – and that’s how the name landed.”

Doppio
The vibe
A brilliant, fast‑paced shipping‑container café on lower Keppel Street. A favourite for workers and early risers who want incredible coffee without the wait.
Our go‑to order
A strong double‑shot coffee (true to its name) and a classic bacon and egg roll.
Why we love it
Even without photos from our last quick dash through, the humming container setup proves you don’t need a big dining room to build a fiercely loyal community.

A long black alongside one of their house‑baked morning pastries.
Why we love it
It represents the easy, comforting rhythm of regional life – perfect for a laptop session or a slow breakfast catch‑up.

The Black Crow
The vibe
Another standout on Keppel Street that brings fresh energy to the local food scene. The space is sleek, the music is always good, and it hums with a great buzz.
Our go‑to order
A robust, perfectly pulled espresso paired with whatever monthly brunch special is currently stealing the show.
Why we love it
The Black Crow nails specialty coffee, but what really sets them apart is how deeply they show up for the community – backing local charity walks, regional artists and hometown initiatives.

The vibe
Peacefully tucked away on historic old church grounds in Eglinton. An absolute winter dream for a slow morning out of the wind.
