Rustic Nature, Neville

Rustic Nature is a brilliant local plant nursery and café on a great patch of land in Neville. It’s completely packed with personality – think shelves of curiosities, handmade touches, and vintage pieces. The countryside setting is incredibly peaceful, making it the perfect spot to just unplug.

The café has quickly become a steady stop for both locals and road trippers. You get genuinely friendly service, honest food, and an atmosphere built entirely on the idea of slowing down. It isn't just a place to grab a coffee – it’s Neville’s go-to spot to take a breath and enjoy something a bit unexpected.

Why we love it

Rustic Nature is an entire experience. Everywhere you look, there’s something interesting to notice – quirky treasures, thoughtful details, and resident silky chickens that completely know they are part of the charm. What stays with you is the sheer character of the place. It’s one of those regional gems that turns a simple weekend drive into a really great afternoon.

The story behind the space

Rustic Nature is shaped by two people who wanted visitors to slow down and feel welcome. We asked owners Sarah and Aaron what people notice, how the space came together and what's stayed with them.

What do people notice first when they arrive?

Most people mention our lounge collection and the space we’ve created for visitors to sit and relax. From day one, we’ve wanted people to feel comfortable staying as long as they like. Once you’re here, we want you to settle in, enjoy your time and not feel like you have to move on quickly. Creating that relaxed feeling has always been important to us, and most of the time we feel like we get it right. Our birds and silkie chickens are another talking point – everyone loves them.

How do you decide which curiosities and vintage pieces make it into the space?

The vintage pieces are usually found on our days off when we’re out and about. We both love aged pieces, and we love that our customers enjoy them too.

What is it like running a café and plant nursery on acreage?

It’s hard work – we won’t lie. The days are long with all the cooking and yard maintenance, but it’s worth it. We really love seeing people enjoying their days off, holidays and special occasions here, and we’re grateful they choose our space to share with their loved ones. We’ve been trading for three and a half years now and have six staff helping us.

What customer moment showed Rustic Nature is more than a café?

A standout moment was being chosen last year to host a Songbird Session by Music NSW and Fish River Roasters. Only three cafés were selected. We had Saralyn, Jess Crossman and Lawdy Clawdy play live music on the deck, and we served savoury and sweet plates to 85 ticket holders. It was a beautiful spring afternoon and one we’ll always remember.

What made you build the space this way?

We wanted to create a space people would want to come back to. We mapped out the café ourselves and wrapped the nursery around it because we’ve always loved nature, animals, birds, fish and plants. Once we finalised the idea, we presented it to council, and 2.5 years later we had approval to start building.

The plan was always simple: enjoy a coffee, cake or a meal, then wander through the nursery and take something home to remember your visit. We have lots of visitors every week, and many are local regulars who’ve been with us from early on.

Being open consistently has been important to us from the start. Weekends are a big time for families, and we wanted people to know they could rely on us being here. Travellers also plan their days around advertised hours, so keeping things steady matters. We’re open Wednesday to Sunday, 8am to 4pm – the hours we’ve kept from day dot so people know when we’re here.
